Black communities are hurting, and I have struggled to find my voice amidst our suffering. The brutal murder of George Floyd now tests American resilience and the strength of our convictions. It will test my own. I know first-hand that racism fills the air we breathe. I have been inexplicably thrust to the ground by police officers and, in a long career, repeatedly pushed aside for remarkably less-qualified peers. I share not for self-pity, as every challenge has been a gift. I share my experience to underscore that racism remains inextricably tied to the America in which we live. As is the case for many Black founders, Ichor is an outgrowth of this gift. It is disappointment overcome by perseverance, refined in purpose, converted into opportunity.
Hope emerges with this generation of selfless leaders, uniquely positioned to make a lasting impact. To them we owe an eternal debt of gratitude. They assure us that this moment won’t end soon, as they carve a turning point in our history. They know that love remains stronger than hate; that we remain stronger together than apart. For us, Ichor’s values will not change as we deepen our work, engaging overlooked communities wherever they are. We welcome clients open to community engagement and transformational change, and reject those lacking our values, simply seeking transactional statements. We will support the strongest voices from Black Lives Matter to Know Your Rights for years to come.
As Black-owned businesses fail rapidly, we recognize the gift of this fifth anniversary. Each victory represents another battle won, and for today, our longevity is one I will celebrate. Ichor Strategies was built for this moment. Thank you for being part of our success.
